I am coming off a drum corps weekend filled with fun, friends, and some fantastic music in motion. Today, and probably tomorrow will be spent relaxing and tying up some loose ends as we begin the transition to full time work and full time political tumult.
Next Monday is opening week at school, a three day training marathon in preparation for the students to arrive the day after Labor Day. Also, by the end of this week, we'll confirm that Obama has chosen Evan Bayh as his running mate in the run up to the DNC. Whether McCain will follow suit and confirm his choice of T-Paw right away, or will wait till after the DNC convention is yet to be seen.
For me, though, I have a distraction, and Drum Corps keeps me grounded. My long time Alma Mater, Minnesota Brass, is sitting in one of the best positions they have ever been in. Currently ranked 3rd, a few tenths out of second, with a shot at the title. Realistically, the title is a long long shot, but a couple caption championships are there for the picking. Here is the current rankings using most recent scores from this weekend.

As we enter the mud pit of political debate, we should all have something in our lives that allows ourselves an opportunity to escape and remember what life is really about.
